Second season of the Times DF Foreign Songs Competition ends

The opening round of the second season of the Times DF Cup Foreign Songs Competition for University Students at Hainan Free Trade Port (Hainan FTP) -- or Global Online Singing Contest -- successfully concluded on Nov 18 at the central square of Times Duty Free Mission Hills.

The competition was co-hosted by the Chinese Communist Youth League (CCYL) Committee of the HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College at Hainan University (HAITC), Times DF (Hainan) and Hainan International Media Center (HIMC). It was organized by the HAITC, the Hainan Audio-Visual Network TV Co Ltd and the Jinzhao Academy at Hainan University (HNU).

The event was officially launched on Oct 17, attracting more than 80 participants from Hainan Normal University, Hainan Foreign Language Collage of Professional Education, Beijing Sports University’s Hainan International College, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China’s Glasgow College Hainan and other universities and colleges. Eight contestants successfully advanced to the finals.

Yang Zhiwei, deputy secretary of the CCYL committee of HNU, said HNU hopes to strengthen its connection with other universities in Hainan through this competition. It aims to promote the internationalization of talent cultivation in the construction of Hainan FTP and drive the construction of Hainan International Education Innovation Island. With music as a medium, it provides a stage for young students to display their vitality and unleash their potential, showcasing the vigor of universities in the Hainan FTP.

Eight contestants displayed their talent in music with dazzling performances. After three rounds of competition, Zhou Chenchen from the HAITC ultimately claimed the championship, Yuan Xiling from the School of Tourism of Hainan University won second prize, Liu Wanjin from the HAITC and Ge Yiyang from the School of Tourism of Hainan University shared the third prize.

During the interview, Zhou Chenchen expressed her gratitude to the Times DF Cup for giving her the opportunity to shine on stage. She believed that with a passion for singing, one can definitely get ahead.
