HAIC celebrates 2026 graduation

On June 12, 2026, the HNU-ASU International College,Hainan University (HAIC) held its sixth graduation ceremony, marking a significant milestone for 351 graduates. The event was attended by notable figures, including Li Hu, secretary of the Party Committee of Hainan University, Tang Hua, chairperson of the Hainan Women's Federation, and Cynthia Lietz, vice provost of Arizona State University, among others.

The ceremony opened with a speech by Li Hu, who congratulated the graduates and highlighted their impressive achievements, including a nearly 70% rate of further education at prestigious institutions worldwide. He encouraged graduates to embrace global competition, contribute to national strategies, and maintain lifelong learning.

Cynthia Lietz emphasized the importance of leadership that fosters cross-cultural communication and innovation, urging graduates to use their skills to create positive change. Tang Hua, an ASU alumna, inspired graduates to redefine problems, embrace AI, and recognize their global impact.

Faculty member Yaerin Park reflected on the mutual growth with students, expressing gratitude and affirming her choice to be an educator. Kelly Bricker announced the recipients of the "HAIC Outstanding Student Award," highlighting the need for wisdom and responsibility in the graduates' future endeavors.

The tassel-turning ceremony, led by deans Wang Lin and Cynthia Lietz, symbolized the culmination of the graduates' hard work and their readiness to embark on new journeys. Graduate representative Ouyang Huilin shared insights on learning and maintaining one's core values amidst uncertainty.

Wang Lin concluded by thanking faculty, students, and parents, urging graduates to stay curious and resilient in the face of AI-driven changes. As golden streamers filled the air, the ceremony ended with a hopeful farewell, celebrating the graduates' achievements and future potential.
