Hainan University makes debut on QS Asia University Rankings

Hainan University has entered the QS Asia University Rankings for the first time, marking a significant milestone in its internationalization efforts.

According to the QS Asia University Rankings 2026 released on Nov 4, the university ranked 405th in Asia and 86th among universities on the Chinese mainland, signaling a new level of its global visibility and academic influence.

This year’s ranking covers 1,529 universities from 25 higher education systems worldwide, with 395 universities from the Chinese mainland included.

As a globally recognized and authoritative university ranking system, the QS Asia University Rankings, published by the leading international higher education research organization Quacquarelli Symonds, evaluate institutions based on a comprehensive set of indicators. These include academic and employer reputation, research citations, international research networks and several other key metrics. Universities must also receive nominations in the academic reputation survey to qualify for inclusion.
