Updated: Oct 27, 2023

The HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College of Hainan University (HAITC) has once again left its mark on World Tourism Day, with a series of engaging and creative activities to commemorate the global event.

World Tourism Day, an initiative by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), is designed to raise awareness about the importance of the tourism industry in various aspects of society, culture, politics and the economy, as well as its significant contributions to sustainable development goals.

This year, the UNWTO designated "Investing in People, Planet and Prosperity" as the theme of the day.

The HAITC has been actively involved in celebrating the day for the past four years, seeking to promote a deeper understanding of tourism, engage a broader audience, and contribute to the tourism sector within the Hainan Free Trade Port.

As part of this year's World Tourism Day celebrations, HAITCers took part in a diverse range of activities, including article, photo and video submissions, as well as a treasure hunt, in a bid to promote sustainable tourism and enhance understanding and growth of the environmental and sustainable practices of the tourism industry.
