HAITC hosts parents’ meeting

The HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College of Hainan University (HAITC) held a parents’ meeting for its newly enrolled students on Sept 8, at the Mission Hills Campus. The event, which brought together more than 180 parents, aimed to provide them with insight into the campus, bridge the gap between families and the college and create a platform for students’ development.

Wang Lin, dean of the HAITC, delivered a presentation on Hainan University's establishment of world-class disciplines and its pursuit of excellence in the field of tourism, under the backdrop of the Hainan Free Trade Port initiative. Her speech covered such topics as the development of the Mission Hills Campus, the HAITC's unique programs, teaching methodologies, faculty members, research findings, collaborations with enterprises, and future education and employment for students.

Wang also emphasized the significance of cooperation between parents and the college.

Kelly Bricker, vice-dean of the HAITC, presented the development of Arizona State University (ASU) in recent years and elucidated the vision, mission, and accomplishments in international cooperative education between ASU and Hainan University.

The incoming students are fortunate to witness the historical development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, said He Yingmin, secretary of the CPC HAITC committee. They are the first batch of students at the Mission Hills Campus.

She suggested parents to strengthen collaboration with the college, provide support and guidance during their children's university life, and to encourage independence while nurturing their comprehensive abilities.

Zhou Rujun, a student at the HAITC, also shared her learning experiences, extracurricular activities, and internships with international organizations, providing incoming students with a clear roadmap for their university journey and igniting their excitement for college life.
