Scholars from WSB University visit HAITC

A team of four scholars from WSB University, led by Julita Markiewicz-Patkowska, visited the Hainan University-Arizona State University Joint International Tourism College (HAITC) on June 5 to discuss international cooperation in education.

Zhang Xianfeng, vice-dean of the college, welcomed the team from WSB University and provided an overview of the college's development, academic achievements, and international faculty strength. He highlighted the college's academic strengths, distinctive features, and internationalization efforts, and expressed the HAITC's willingness to engage in international collaborative education projects with WSB University. 

He also emphasized the potential for utilizing the educational opening-up policies associated with the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port to introduce world-class international educational resources and innovative elements.

Markiewicz-Patkowska expressed gratitude for the warm welcome of the college and acknowledged its high-quality academic achievements and international characteristics. She introduced the rich history and educational philosophy of WSB University, as well as the undergraduate and graduate programs offered. She expressed the desire to establish exchange and cooperation between the two institutions to share first-class educational resources.

During the discussion, participants delved into future projects and potential areas of cooperation, particularly in the establishment of full-time undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, curriculum design, and graduation requirements.

Following the meeting, scholars from WSB University conducted a workshop for HAITC students on environmental protection and ecological tourism. The students engaged in discussions with the visiting scholars on the future prospects, research significance, and value of research in eco-friendly and sustainable tourism and gained insight into the latest development in cutting-edge research areas such as sustainable ecotourism and zero-waste tourism.

The meeting was also attended by Li Ping, vice-dean of the college, department heads, and teachers of the HAITC.
