HAITC hosts lecture on national natural science fund applications

The HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College of Hainan University (HAITC) hosted a lecture under the theme "Insight and Considerations in Applying for the National Natural Science Fund" on Feb 21.

Cheng Yeqing, a leading figure in Hainan province’s key discipline of geography, served as the keynote speaker. He is also a member of the economic geography professional committee of the Geographical Society of China, a member of the working committee of the China Society of Natural Resources, and vice-dean of the School of Geography and Environmental Sciences at Hainan Normal University. 

Cheng provided a detailed overview of the evaluation process and key considerations in applying for the national natural science fund, emphasized the scientific nature of grant proposals, and encouraged applicants to attach importance to interdisciplinary approaches and academic accumulation, and to consider expert opinions. Cheng also urged continuous experiential learning. 

Additionally, he shared his own experience in writing grant proposals, including the principles, core elements, and essence of writing. He also discussed how to select topics and engage in scientific writing.

Cheng engaged in a Q&A session with HAITCers, addressing difficulties and concerns encountered during their application process.
