Qian Siyu and Li Jiahao from HAITC won first and second prize respectively in the 2022 FLTRP·ETIC Cup English Public Speaking Contest (Hainan Final), which ended on Nov 11, setting new personal bests since 2021.

Co-sponsored by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and the National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education, and jointly organized by Beijing Waiyan Online Digital Technology and China Language Assessment, the FLTRP·ETIC Cup English Challenge for College Students is a large-scale public competition consisting of speaking, writing and reading. 

With its authority, scholarship and professionalism, the competition has featured on the National College Student Competition List, which is issued by the China Association of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, for five consecutive years, and is included in the provincial-level competition projects by many local education authorities. 

The results of the competition are highly endorsed in shaping ideas, cultivating talents, promoting teaching and other aspects. The Student Support Center of HAITC has been organizing students to participate in the project since 2021, to better promote learning and reform. The contestants have improved their language proficiency and comprehensive quality and demonstrated their own styles. In recent years, they have achieved good results in Hainan and participated in national competitions on behalf of the province.
