Updated: Aug 3, 2022

The Model United Nations Association at Hainan University (HNU) works under the leadership of the CPC HNU committee and under the guidance of the CCYL HNU committee.

The purpose of the association is to give full play to Model United Nations activities in citizenship education, spread knowledge regarding international relations and diplomacy, and build an on-campus MUN activity exchange platform and a learning and practice base. It will help to develop students’ international vision and comprehensive ability and diversify cultural activities at HNU.

Established in 2012, the association was Hainan province’s first Model United Nations academic society for university students. Its members took part in a number of top MUN conferences at Harvard University, Peking University, China Foreign Affairs University, Renmin University of China, and the National University of Defense Technology.

The Secretariat of the association consists of one secretary-general, two deputy secretary-generals, and one academic director. The association is made up of five departments: the Publicity Department, the Finance Department, the Secretary Department, the Academic Department, and the External Liaison Department, with one director and no more than three deputy directors for each one.

The Publicity Department promotes various activities organized by the association. The Finance Department takes charge of income and expenditures. The Secretary Department makes plans and carries out conference affairs and paperwork of the annual conference. The Academic Department conducts regular academic training. The External Liaison Department conducts external communication and receives visiting guests.

The HNU Model United Nations Association organizes the Hainan International Model United Nations Conference every year, which provides a broad academic stage for its members. Since its establishment, the association has held three Hainan International Model United Nations conferences as well as six university-level conferences. It is dedicated to providing members with more conference information and higher-quality academic training.
