The Student Union of the HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College at Hainan University (HAITC) is a self-governing organization under the leadership of the CPC HAITC committee, the CCYL HAITC committee, and the Student Union of Hainan University (HNU). As a bridge connecting students with HAITC and HNU, the union adheres to the principles of diversity, innovation, equality, fairness, curiosity, respect, integrity and tenacity. It strengthens the political guidance of college students, focuses on better serving them, makes policies and decisions of the Party known, and leads the students to integrate personal dreams with the fundamental affairs of the Party and the country.

The HAITC Student Union is composed of a general affairs office, a department of liaison and students' rights and interests, a department of publicity, a department of learning and development, a department of culture and entertainment, and a department of sports. It is mainly designed to enrich students’ extracurricular life, expand their horizons, deepen their understanding of the college and enlarge its influence through organizing cultural and sports activities. By strengthening communication and exchanges between students and teachers, the union lays a solid foundation for its future work.

The general office acts as a link between different functional departments of the student union. It is responsible for logistics ranging from accounting to working systems formulation, goods distribution and meeting organization. It is committed to serving all students and the union wholeheartedly and ensuring the smooth operation of the union.

The department of liaison and students' rights and interests strengthens ties among HAITC and other schools and colleges at HNU and beyond, and upholds the rights and interests of students at the college. During the past year, it organized a series of activities, exerted utmost efforts to serve students, facilitated communication between students and their teachers, held lectures on the fight against illicit use of drugs, terrorism, AIDS and fraud, and launched theme events on the Constitution and International Women's Day to nurture students’ awareness of rights and interests.

The department of publicity is tasked with making HAITC activities better known via online and offline means in collaboration with other functional departments of the student union.

The department of learning and development is responsible for cultivating a fine academic environment on the campus and facilitating the development of HAITC’s academic traditions through various cultural and sports activities. It also holds regular gatherings to help students learn more about the entrance examinations of graduate programs and requirements related to postgraduate recommendations and overseas studies.

The department of culture and entertainment is in charge of the planning and holding of various cultural activities, such as the first-year student welcome gala and top 10 singing contests. It boasts a large number of versatile members actively involved in school events.

The department of sports holds sports meetings, provides assistance to college sports teams, and ensures the success of sports activities on the campus. Over the past year, it collaborated with HNU in the organization of university-level swimming and field and track competitions, encouraged HAITC students to sign up and provided contestants with logistical support. Meanwhile, it sponsored a college-level basketball contest and sought mutual assistance and joint development with other departments.
