HAITC holds 2022 graduation ceremony

The HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College at Hainan University (HAITC) held its 2022 graduation and degree-awarding ceremony at Siyuan Auditorium of Hainan University (HNU) on May 29. Attended by officials from HNU, Ping An Bank's Hainan branch and the Arizona State University (ASU), as well as HAITC graduates and faculty members, the ceremony was presided over by Zhang Fang, an HAITC lecturer, and Su Jiaqi, a student representative from the 2019 class.

Kelly Bricker, vice-dean of HAITC and director of the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at the ASU, conveyed best wishes and said the graduation is an important milestone for students, their families and the two universities. Bricker said she holds great expectations for the graduates' future.

Liu Zhi, Party secretary of the CPC Ping An Bank Hainan branch committee and head of the branch, talked about his work experience in China and abroad and encouraged graduates to work hard and create a great future.

After the poem recitation session, Fan Xuecong, a graduate representative, shared her memorable moments at the college. Yang Xiaochu, an alumni representative, called on graduates to actively participate in the development of the country based on his own experience. Huang Jingfeng, a teacher representative, gave suggestions to the graduates and expressed expectations of them.

Wang Lin, dean of HAITC, sent sincere congratulations and blessings to 2022 graduates on behalf of the college. In an era of great changes, students should learn to adjust their expectations, upgrade social circles, pay attention to the outside world and constantly enhance and maintain their sense of happiness, Wang said. She also urged them to build a sense of mission and personal beliefs, solve problems with rationality and realize their goals with determination.

Following the tassel-turning ceremony, Wang Liren, vice-chairman of the HAITC Alumni Association, announced that the association will be included as a member of the ASU China Alumni Association and enjoy relevant resources and services. She also introduced the HAITC Alumni Association Advisory Group, a newly established organization that will offer assistance to fresh graduates.

He Yingmin, chairman of the HAITC Alumni Association and Party secretary of the CPC HATIC committee, said the association will become a harbor for HAITCers to recall their college life and a linkage for them to communicate with each other.

She said she hopes HAITCers will bear in mind the top priorities of the country, pursue their dreams with concentration and perseverance, and make contributions to the realization of the Chinese dream.
