Tourism expert serves as HAITC chief chair professor
HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College at Hainan University (HAITC) has recently brought in Chris Ryan as the college’s chief chair professor and honorary tutor for its Master of Tourism Management program.
A leading expert in international tourism, Ryan has provided advice and suggestions to the APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting, the World Tourism Organization, the New Zealand government and tourism enterprises and related organizations. He has made outstanding contributions to tourism theory, national and regional tourism development policies and tourist behavior research. Ryan has served as the chief editor of Tourism Management for more than 20 years, and he is also the founder of the authoritative journal Tourism Management Perspectives.
Prior to joining HAITC, Ryan has established an academician workstation at the college, which focuses on ecological civilization construction, island tourism, leisure and health tourism and international tourism consumption center. He has achieved considerable results in promoting Hainan tourism.
Under the guidance of Ryan, the workstation will build an international research team and an integrated innovation platform to provide support for the development of Hainan’s tourism industry and facilitate the construction of Hainan University’s double first-class disciplines.
