Hainan releases white paper on tourism and food development

The White Paper on Hainan Free Trade Port International Tourism Food Development was released in Haikou, capital of Hainan province, on Dec 10 at the Fourth Hainan International Tourism Food Development Forum.

Compiled by the Hainan Tourism and Catering Association and the Chris Ryan workshop at the HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College of Hainan University (HAITC), the white paper introduces the local food in Hainan, expounds on challenges confronting tourism and food and puts forward suggestions for improving the industry's international competitiveness in such aspects as the natural environment, socio-economic value, consumer experience, tourism culture and characteristic food culture.

Tang Jiechun, executive deputy president and secretary-general of the Hainan Tourism and Catering Association, gave a brief introduction of the white paper and expressed his expectations for the association's future development. 

Tang said the white paper has played a positive role in driving tourism and catering industries in Hainan province.

Following the speech, Tang and Wang Lin, dean of HAITC, attended the launch ceremony of the white paper.
