Jia said that an urban pattern is composed of the spatial composition formed by architecture and that the uniqueness of urban construction is closely related to the culture of the city.
He compared the urban morphology of today’s Rome and the city in the Middle Ages, and analyzed the relationship between architecture, urban space and culture. He also explained the connection between street patterns and architecture by citing examples of Medieval Paris and the Sheshan area of Shanghai.
After elaborating on the concept of urban space, he talked about the transformations of old towns in Yinchuan, the capital of the Ningxia Hui autonomous region. He suggested that students should implement innovative measures, be more practical in urban planning and design and pay attention to common user requirements.
