HAITC holds parents' meeting

HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College, Hainan University (HAITC), held a cloud parents' meeting for freshmen of the 2021 class on Sept 11. 

The school leadership, heads and representatives of the college and about 200 parents attended the meeting via video link. It was presided over by Wang Yuanlu, deputy secretary of the CPC HAITC committee.

Wang Lin, dean of HAITC, delivered a speech with the theme of "advocating integration and pursuing excellence", in which she explained the orientation and objectives of the school. 

Wang talked about the construction background of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the origin of HAITC, and illustrated the school training mode of "double degree", "dual status" and "4+0". 

She also introduced the school standardization, teaching resources promotion and integration as well as teaching quality management, and described the international faculty and administrative team, the abundant extracurricular activities and the distribution of this year's graduates.

He Yingmin, secretary of the CPC HAITC committee, gave a lecture on the topic of moral education. She briefed the parents about the building of a characteristic development platform, scholarship and subsidy system, and a scientific platform.

He stressed that HAITC is committed to cultivating industry leaders with good moral characters, patriotism, cross-cultural competence and international competitiveness. 

She also called on parents to cooperate with the school, strengthen communication on the basis of equality and mutual respect, and help students develop independence and comprehensive capabilities.

Professor Yue Xiaowen from the school's psychological center exchanged opinions with parents on students' mental health. Based on the current psychological states of the younger generation, Yue suggested that parents practice what they preach, treat their children equally, and help them develop decision-making ability and emotional regulation capacity. 

During the Q & A session, the school leadership answered questions about postgraduate recruitment, postgraduate recommendations, degree acquisition, academic minors and Sino-foreign cooperative projects.

The cloud meeting bridged HAITC and its students' parents from all over the country, kept the parents informed about the school, and built a dialogue mechanism for both sides to jointly cultivate international talents.
