Shi Haitao lectures on small block planning and urban quality

Shi Haitao, vice-president of the Fudan Planning and Architectural Design Institute (FPADI), gave a lecture on small block planning and urban quality on November 2 at the invitation of the HNU-ASU Joint International Tourism College (HAITC). 

Dr. Shi has been honored with a number of titles such as invited researcher of FPADI, doctor of urban planning, senior engineer, national first class registered architect and national registered planner.

He introduced the student audience to the concept of a quality city including its origin, development and styles. He also outlined its current development direction, making the students more aware of future urban development.

Shi took Shanghai's streets as an example to interpret how to implement urban innovation under the guidance of central government planning. Covering the core idea of street design based on small blocks, he instructed the students to master the key points of urban design.

Shi analyzed Haikou's urban design, which focuses on small blocks. Students increased their knowledge of urban and rural planning from this example.
